For this project, I was the lead content strategist and copywriter for a new website for the Ohio Children’s Trust Fund, a small state agency providing funding, services and education to prevent child abuse and neglect.

The agency’s director had a goal to distinguish OCTF from Child Protective Services and implement a non-profit feel to the agency’s site and content, in part to alleviate parents’ fears that engaging with OCTF would result in their children being taken into protective custody when in fact the mission was quite the opposite and to prevent children from being removed from their homes and families.

For my role on the project, I worked closely with the Executive Director and our UX research and design team to identify the needs of the agency and its constituents to design messaging that clearly communicated the agency’s mission and purpose, including the script for a video. I also strategized the messaging and content for OCTF’s online donation portal and wrote several educational articles aimed at parents who may need intervention and wrote the script for a video.

I created the messaging for this page in close collaboration with the Executive Director to show donors why they should give to OCTF with concrete examples of what their donations accomplished. The result was an immediate uptick in online donations when the new site launched.
